In the thriving startup scene in Norway, it takes innovative solution and hard work to stand out from the crowd. During Startup Extreme at Voss from 17-19 June 2015 Meshcrafts was one of the four startups featured in the WIRED magazine.
Meshcrafts wants to be the Airbnb of electric vehicles, meaning it wants to democratise access to vehicle charging points through its app, enabling people to get access to electricity in a user-friendly way with no-hassle payments. “We want to make it possible for everyone to buy and sell electricity from each other,” says Asmund Moll from Meshcrafts. “We are the only ones building a really intelligent back-end solution for the whole social space.”
There are currently 6,512 charging points in Norway and 60,000 EVs, which equates to 1 in every 100 people. Meshcrafts’ aim is to increase worldwide EV adoption from 15 million vehicles to 20 million vehicles. Not only will it make the process of finding somewhere to charge simpler and more transparent, but it will reduce traffic in the city and cut CO2 emissions. “By solving this we can help spearhead the EV revolution worldwide and not just in Norway,” says Moll.
